ABOUT CHILD DEVELOPMENT INSTITUTE
Child Development Institute (CDI) is a leading children’s mental health agency in the City of Toronto offering a range of services to approximately 3,000 children ages 0‐12, youth ages 13-18 and their families each year. Our mission is to promote and support the healthy development of children and to strengthen the families and communities in which they live. We provide four streams of service to families in need: early intervention, family violence, healthy child development and specialized mental health services for children and youth with learning disabilities.

POSITION SUMMARY
The CDI, Early Learning Centre, is seeking a knowledgeable and competent Registered Early Childhood Educator. The incumbent will be responsible for the development and implementation of the children’s program in a manner that is consistent with CDI Early Learning Centre’s play-based program and reflects How Does Learning Happen? (HDLH) Ontario Pedagogy for the Early Years, Every Child Belong (ELECT), the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), Toronto Children’s Services Assessment for Quality Improvement (AQI) and Toronto Public Health (TPH).

 What the role is all about...
1.  Supervision of children in a safe and healthy environment
2.  Update the children’s attendance throughout the day
3.  Observe and document children’s daily interactions and responses to track their interest and developmental needs
4.  Develop and implement planned daily programs that engage, stimulate and challenge the children
5.  Review regularly how your program reflects the Four Foundations of Learning and Development from ‘How Does Learning Happen?’ (Well-Being/Expression/Belonging/ and Engagement) and AQI requirements 
6.  Works with Resource Consultants to develop and implement program plans for children with special needs
7.  Responsible for establishing the daily program routine and children’s schedules
8.  Extend a warm Welcome to families at all times. Maintain a positive and professional relationship with parents and families.  Provide constructive feedback regarding their child(ren)
9.   Create opportunities for children to engage in their community, library, community walks, etc.
10. Conduct parent interviews as requested by parents and Director
11. Responsible for the opening and closing of the Centre.
12. May be asked to be the ‘In-Charge’ person when the Director is off site.
13. Responsible for administering medication.
14.  Provide placement supervision to post-secondary ECE students 
15. Maintains records, program plans, daily care information, and other documentation as required by TCS, CCEYA and TPH
16. Participates regularly in supervision as required by agency policy.
17. Responsible for reporting any signs of child abuse to Children’s Aid Society
18. Any other duties as assigned.

What we hope you will bring…
•   Early Childhood Education Degree/Diploma
•   Registered member (in good standing) College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE)
•   Knowledge of CCEYA, AQI, HDLH, ELECT
•   Valid Standard First Aid Certificate
